Shopping

Santini Marina Plaza is close to the south end and has local shops, food, coffee, and other small businesses. Because the plaza is outdoors, it works best during light rain or between showers.

For a fully indoor shopping trip, visit Edison Mall in Fort Myers. The drive is longer, but the enclosed mall offers plenty of stores, restaurants, and space to walk around while staying dry.

Museums & Cultural Options

Mound House is located right on Fort Myers Beach. The museum explores more than 2,000 years of local history, including the Calusa people and the island’s early residents. Museum hours are limited, so check the schedule before visiting.

For a longer outing, visit the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers. Explore the historic homes, invention museum, laboratory, antique automobiles, and botanical gardens once the rain slows down.

St. Somewhere Spa at Margaritaville Beach Resort is open to resort guests and the public. Services include massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, hair care, and spa packages.

Another option is Aquagene Spa at Pink Shell Beach Resort. The spa offers massages, body treatments, facials, and nail services. Appointments are recommended.

Beachfront Haven has a fully equipped kitchen, making a rainy day the perfect excuse for a home-cooked meal. Pick up groceries at Publix, order takeout, or try a new recipe together.

Board Games & Movie Night

Bring a favorite game or two, grab some snacks, and enjoy a movie on the living room TV. A little rain is much easier to forgive when snacks are involved.

Scenic Drives

For a short coastal drive, head south on Estero Boulevard, cross the new Big Carlos Pass Bridge, and continue past Lovers Key toward Bonita Beach. The route offers views of the bay, mangroves, coastal homes, and surrounding islands.

For a longer trip, drive north toward Fort Myers and follow historic McGregor Boulevard. This palm-lined road runs past beautiful homes and leads toward the Edison and Ford Winter Estates and Downtown Fort Myers.

Avoid scenic drives during heavy rain, flooding, or thunderstorms. Check local weather and road conditions before leaving.
